How We Work
Project Restore Us, Inc. supports the food security of low-income and disadvantaged communities by providing affordable food for sale locally in areas with low availability, by delivering donor-supported grocery boxes to homes of clients impacted by COVID-19, and by providing access to the wholesale food supply chain.
Our Approach
Collect Funds
Our operations are funded by grants and individual or company donations.
Partner with Community Organizations
We connect with families in need through community organizations, who already have close ties with them. We also work directly with the Boston Housing Authority (BHA) to bring groceries to housing communities.
Partner with Restaurants
Restaurants can obtain groceries at low cost through their wholesale distribution partners. In some cases, we pay their workers to pack grocery boxes safely and efficiently.
Activate Volunteers
All of our activities are conducted by skilled volunteers, who donate their time and vehicle use for home deliveries, for supporting retail sales at public housing complexes, and for coordinating logistics and administration.
Deliver or Sell Culturally Appropriate Groceries
We either:
deliver packed grocery boxes directly to families (with the help of community partners)
have groceries delivered to the community partners to distribute to families
sell groceries affordably at housing communities through the BHA
We’re Different from Traditional Food Pantries
Supporting Restaurants
Our restaurant partners are recuperating from a multi-year pandemic that significantly shut down operations – sacrificing revenue for public health. We pay them for groceries to help generate revenue.
Efficient & Familiar
Providing groceries is more efficient than prepared meals. Our chefs design grocery selections to be nutritious, long-lasting, and culturally appropriate. Families get to cook food how they want.
Home Delivery & Convenient Access
Our volunteer drivers provide contactless delivery so the vulnerable can stay safe at home instead of waiting in line. We also make groceries available and affordable in their own neighborhoods through our partnership with the Boston Housing Authority.
